Buenos Aires, Jan. 8 (NA) – The Buenos Aires Justicialist Party, led by Unión por la Patria national deputy Máximo Kirchner, will meet tomorrow to advance in designing the electoral scheme for the renewal of authorities scheduled for March 15. The party board meeting, the second of its kind since elections were agreed for March, will be held in a hybrid format (with in-person and remote participation as the case may be) and will continue the debate on the format the elections will take, an unresolved issue: whether there will be a single list or competition. At stake is the succession of Máximo Kirchner in the leadership of the party at the provincial level. Governor Axel Kicillof seeks to have that seat occupied by someone of his utmost trust who will align the party with his administration and his presidential project for 2027. The names that are at the top of the list are those of his vice governor, Verónica Magario, the mayor of La Plata, Julio Alak, and his Minister of Infrastructure, Gabriel Katopodis. The head of La Cámpora wants Kirchnerism to continue to control the party. From this sector, support is sought by the mayors of Lomas de Zamora, Federico Otermín, of Moreno, Mariel Fernández, and of Malvinas Argentinas, Leonardo Nardini. On December 26, the party board chaired by Nardini managed to define the regulation for the hypothetical case that internal elections are held to define the integration of the council with its respective authorities. Among other aspects, it was agreed that candidate lists must comply with the Gender Parity Law and have the endorsement of affiliates.
